Version 2.0 has a new front chest harness that is about 1.5" longer, added a dual sternum slider, and added front trash pockets. The new slider gives more adjustability with ease, and the longer chest pockets mean any size flask up to 600ml will fit great, plus sized phones are super secure, and there is plenty of room for gear.

Gear Vest-Wide from Orange Mud on Vimeo.

Who did we design this for? Runners, riders, hikers, paddlers, skiers and more. During any sport the Gear Vest is extremely stable to torsional, up and down, and fast movements. It tracks with your body and is very comfortable to wear. Storage up front is designed around 600ml soft flasks (note that the new 450ml soft flasks are taller and don't fit as well), gloves, nutrition, or big smart phones. The rear bladder compartment can hold some extra gear around the bladder, but is focused on speed and breathability. So not a lot of storage there. The shock cord on the back works great for holding a jacket or light layer. It's loaded with fun features that provide quick accessibility to gear on your chest, shoulders, and back.

  • Weight without bladder: 8.9oz
  • Bladder size: 1L (35oz) included
  • Made in: Vietnam
  • Sport focus: Trail and ultra-running, Mountain Biking, Hiking, SUP, Hiking, Skiing

Fits soft flask in 500ml (500ml-LINK) and 600ml (600ml-LINK) in the front chest pockets.

So far so good.

I have only had it long enough to use it 4 times so far. I work it today for a 21 mile trail race and only had 1 issue. The chest sinch strap's would drop down on its own. Not a huge deal but we will see how it goes. No bounce and held all my necessary gear with ease.

Excellent

A well made vest made for any endurance event or race. Held all my gear to include rain jacket, headlamp, 5x energy goo, 3x sports bars, half liter water bottle, and plenty of front pockets for more. There are no large compartments with zippers or Velcro to secure items in aside from the 1 liter camelback pouch provided you remove the bladder. Main issue I had during my event was that the pack's straps would loosen resulting in it sagging to the rear of my back when running. After securing the excess slack into the retaining straps built in, the issue went away and I was able to get back into my normal rhythm. It's obvious the designers put a lot of thought of what endurance runners need into this pack. Great investment!

Most Comfy Vest I’ve Found

I have been using a waist belt up til now for half marathons and want to attempt my first full later this year, so wanted a hydration vest. I have tried three different brands within the week and found this to be my favorite. I am petite (5’3”, 125#) so I was worried a unisex vest would not work for me but I was shocked when it fit better than the women’s specific ones. My only complaint on this end is I am having to make shift something to tie up the extra side strap so it doesn’t hit me in the arm the whole time. Even with sticking part of the extra in the clip for that purpose I have at least six inches hanging down and it slides out if I try to double it up in the clip. But I am using a hair tie to tie it up for now! Short of cutting it off and finding someone with a heavy duty sewing machine to sew it up I don’t know there is anything else to do. BUT even with that this vest has everything I was looking for. The flasks are perfect in the front and I have plenty of space for all my fuel and my largish phone. And it doesn’t rub or hurt! Thank you, Orange Mud!

Glad you dig it Sadie! On the side straps, just fill it up, put on the heaviest base layer you think you'd use and test it running (or riding) and note the strap length you'd prefer and take a sharpie to mark it. Then make sure it's equal on both sides, and cut! It's best to burn it with a lighter on the ends so it won't unravel. Sewing over is an option, but not needed so an easy fix! Tks!

Great for a bigger frame

I have been running for a while now and have struggled to find a pack that fits my frame but isn't too large or bulky. This pack fits me with plenty of room to spare, the bladder stays put and I have tons of room for all of the snacks/hydration stuff I need.
